Bei Sheng Restaurant

Location: Yishun, Singapore (in front of Chong Pang)
Best Dish: Chilli crab with mantao
Country of origin: Thailand
Rating
Taste: 5/5 (ideal for the pinoy tongue who likes thai-chinese food)
Price: 5/5 (All of these for 103SGD)
Ambiance: 2/5 (it is a restaurant, air-conditioned but not the classy types. the best word to describe the place is "authentic")
Presentation: 3/5 (food is properly arranged, the plates a bit old though)
Accessibility: 1/5 (for people living in Yishun, this is probably accessible but for those living in the city it is a bit too far and not easy to find. it is worthy to find though!)

Review
Masarap ba ang mga putaheng ito?  We ordered several dishes in Bei Sheng restaurant and I can say that it was one of the best meals I had in weeks. Truly a treasure to find in Singapore. It was lucky that my cousin introduced us to this place. Anyway, let us start the review with the Crispy chicken, the outside covering was very crunchy and the insides were juicy. Perfectly cooked chicken and best paired with the pineapple rice topped with garlic. If feeling a bit unhealthy when eating the fried dishes, try the pechay with garlic sauce to satisfy your urge to be healthy. the sauteed tiger prawns topped with oatmeal and garlic was also deliciously cooked but if you have these easy to eat dishes nearby, skinning the prawns is a bit too tedious, specially for the lazies. The calamari rolls aren't really squid in a wrap so we got a little disappointed. It was more like a squid ball rolled into sesame seed wrap; we still ate them though. The highlight of the dinner would probably be the chilli crab with mantao (not in the picture). It was the last to arrive so I haven't got the time to take a picture of it because my hands are full, literally full. Just to describe it, it is a two part meal composed of a bowl of crab with chilli and a plate of mantao. To eat it, you need to get a piece of mantao and dip it to the chilli crab sauce, take a pinch of a crab or grab a leg if you want and eat it! Pretty awesome taste! The fried mantao alone tastes good, so imagine placing chilli crab on it. A definite yum!
